Hi everyone!
First and foremost,
THANK YOU for taking the time to celebrate our wedding with us in Madrid! We are beyond excited and can’t wait to see everyone. To make things easier, We’ve put together this guide to help with planning.
We know that for many of you, this will be your first time in Europe, and things can get a little confusing.
Below, you’ll find links for flights, hotel/Airbnb recommendations, and general tips. Of course, you’re free to book wherever and whenever you’d like—this is just to help!

Travel Essentials
Passport:
If you're a U.S. citizen, you do not need a visa to enter Spain, but you must have a valid passport.
Time Difference:
Spain is 6 hours ahead of the U.S. (Eastern Time). Keep this in mind when booking flights!

FLIGHTS
You’ll be flying into Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD)
Best Departure Airports (U.S.)
JFK (NYC)
EWR (Newark, NJ)
BWI (Baltimore, MD)
IAD (Washington, D.C.)
We do NOT recommend flying from Philadelphia (PHL) due to prices being significantly higher and the service being awful.

Getting around Madrid
Important things to know
Weather in September:
Madrid is still warm in September, with temps around 70–80°F.
Power & Phone Service:
Spain uses different power outlets!
You’ll need an EU adapter: Adapter 1 Adapter 2
Avoid international phone charges:
Use an eSIM Holafly eSIM for Spain.
If you don’t get an eSIM:
Use WiFi & WhatsApp for calls/messages. Turn off roaming or keep your phone in airplane mode to avoid crazy charges.
Money & Payments:
Spain’s currency is Euros (€). The exchange rate is nearly 1:1 with USD. Credit & debit cards are widely accepted—cash is not necessary.
Notify your bank:
Make sure to add a travel notice to avoid your card being frozen.
If you want cash:
Research exchange rates. Airport exchanges are a rip-off. No tipping culture in Spain! If you tip, it's appreciated but not expected and tips should always be in cash, never on card.
